The Wayfare group of tourism and ski companies will welcome back a familiar face, when Julia Savill takes up her new role as sales director on Monday (3 May). Previously, Julia was international sales manager for Real Journeys (part of Wayfare).
“
“Jules already has a deep knowledge of our industry, and our business. I’m delighted to have someone of her experience and calibre on our senior leadership team and being part of the building of our business”
Wayfare Chief Executive Officer
Stephen England-Hall
A Queenstown local, Savill has spent more than twenty years in the tourism industry, most recently as South Island operations manager for Grand Pacific Tours. She has extensive experience working in sales and marketing management roles for Tourism New Zealand, Destination Queenstown, Southern Discoveries and Active Adventures. Real Journeys was the longest stint of her career.
“
“Real Journeys has exceptional experiences in some very special parts of the country that remain close to my heart. The last 15 months has been a really challenging time for the Wayfare group and the tourism sector, and now there’s a job to do to prepare for a sustainable and successful future. I look forward to being part of the Wayfare team to achieve this”
Wayfare Sales Director
Julia Savill
Savill says she can’t wait to get started, after taking what she calls an ‘adult gap year’ following the upheaval of COVID-19 (although she still worked in tourism). “I’ve been fortunate enough to spend a winter season at Coronet Peak and the summer on the Milford Track for Ultimate Hikes. It's been exceptional being able to rejuvenate and re-energise.”
Cardrona Head of Sales Mat Woods has been acting head of sales and marketing for Wayfare tourism for the past year.
England-Hall acknowledged the support and leadership Mat had provided. “I’d like to personally thank Mat on behalf of Wayfare and the Board. It’s been an incredibly challenging time and Mat has worn multiple hats and done a tremendous job keeping everything running smoothly.”
